As a Visual Information Specialist at the Center for Veterinary Biologics you are responsible for planning the technical details of and displaying a variety of visual material used to support research and regulatory activities in veterinary medicine and allied sciences for the staff at the National Centers for Animal Health location.
The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.
The duties may include, but are not limited to:
Maintains and uses equipment used in providing audio visual support for scientific and general purpose presentations and webinars.
Coordinates presenters and service providers used to host VTC or web based video conferences.
Based on predetermined formats and specific themes, produces designs, or visual styles for publications, exhibits, or presentation materials that present to the audience the image desired.
Produces creative graphic design work in conjunction with scientists, administrators and staff to create visual forms to convey intended messages or have a desired effect on intended audiences.
Serves as a resource for staff and associated agency customers with basic questions regarding a variety of imaging and presentation hardware and software.
Provides photographic and or video coverage of scientific, medical and other events, some of which occur in BSL-3 laboratory environments.
Uses Digital Asset Management software to create and maintain searchable databases of sensitive and non sensitive images.

Qualifications

OR Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate level education (18 semester hours, 27 quarter hours or equivalent) in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position
OR Superior Academic Achievement: To qualify based on superior academic achievement, you must have completed the requirements for a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with major study in the fields of commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position AND must meet certain GPA requirements.
