As a Visual Information Specialist you will be responsible for designing and updating publications and other graphic products for digital and offset printing; coordinating the printing of publications using U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) contracts; providing technical assistance and support for multiple content management system-based websites; and serving as a member of the regional Visitor Services and Outreach team.
Use Adobe Creative Suite Design and Layout software programs (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat DC) in an integrated manner to create print-ready graphic design files of multi-page publications and other visual products for reproduction via offset printing, digital printing, and as 508-compliant PDFs.
Use graphic design principles (color, balance, flow, hierarchy, white space) to create publications, websites, infographics, and other visual products that are logical, easy-to-understand, and within U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service graphic design standards.
Create PDF files of multi-page documents with text, images, and graphic elements that are compliant with the standards set by Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
Use knowledge of current offset and digital printing technology and procedures (electronic publishing, inks and color separations, paper quality, duotones and halftones) to provide accurate printing cost estimates, perform press sheet inspections, and manage print contracts.
Use a web content management system to design, maintain, and troubleshoot moderately complex 508-compliant websites.
Communicate effectively and establish/maintain effective working relationships with other employees, GPO employees or print contractors, design contractors, and others.
Serve as a member of the regional visitor services management team.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
